This rare Firstman Rotary pedal came in a lot with several other pedals I purchased. It was in decent overall condition, but it did need some work to bring it back up to proper shape.
I replaced all of the electrolytic capacitors and cleaned all of the pots and jacks with DeOxit. The original battery holder had been damaged by old battery acid, so I replaced it. I also found a nice 12V DC adapter in my parts stash and rewired it for the required center-negative polarity. The pedal can now be used with either batteries or external power.
The original stick-on rubber feet were missing, so I added a new set to complete the pedal. There was a rust spot under the battery holder, which I cleaned up before coating the battery area with clear lacquer for added protection. It’s not perfect, but it looks much better and should hold up fine long term.
The interior and exterior were thoroughly cleaned. Cosmetically, it has some scratches as expected for a vintage pedal, along with a small spot of surface rust near the speed knob, as shown. Overall, it is in pretty good shape for a pedal from 1981. Not too bad at all for being over 40 years old! More importantly it sounds great and really can bring those old school leslie sounds.
