The BOSS DR-55 Dr. Rhythm is a classic early programmable analog drum machine known for its simple layout, punchy vintage drum sounds, and unmistakable late-’70s/early-’80s character. As one of the earliest models in the Dr. Rhythm series, it has become a favorite among collectors, producers, and vintage gear enthusiasts looking for authentic analog rhythm tones.
This particular unit has been restored and is fully functional. It has that raw, charming, old-school drum machine sound that works great for synth setups, guitar practice, lo-fi recording, and anyone looking to add genuine vintage rhythm-machine character to their rig.
What Was Restored:
- Replaced aged electrolytic capacitors
- Replaced both Start/Stop switches
- Printed new, darker labels for the Start/Stop switches
- One rubber foot was missing, replaced all four so they match.
- Replaced missing large Rhythm Select steps knob with an aluminum one
- Cleaned the slide switches, pots, and jacks with DeOxit
- Cleaned the interior and exterior
The unit is working properly and sounds great, with the classic analog character these early BOSS drum machines are known for.
