1976 Ace Tone FR-6 Rhythm Machine Fully Serviced and Re-capped (SOLD 9/22/23)

Hi, you are checking out a vintage Ace Tone Fr-6 Rhythm machine. Judging by the date codes on the potentiometers, I’m thinking this is a 1976 machine. It is in great shape for it’s age but it’s not mint. It had small random chips in the formica wood exterior but I filled most of them with epoxy wood filler designed for flooring to make them a lot less noticeable. It has a power board for the power capacitors and a fuse that the older machines don’t have. I swapped out the power caps and all the rest of the electrolytic capacitors in the unit to give it a new lease on life. In an effort to improve the sound quality and also the longevity, I replaced electrolytic capacitors with polypropylene film capacitors where I could. I’ve included pics of the before and after and of some stages of cleaning. I sprayed all the pots and they work great and there is no scratchiness. I cleaned the jacks in the back as well and tested the footswitch jack. All works as it should. The machine sounds great and works flawlessly. I made a video testing this exact machine so you can see how it works. It sounds fantastic but for some reason the mic in my camera doesn’t pick up the deep base frequencies that well so they sound low in the video in a few of the more bass heavy test settings. It sounds great in real life. I have also re-wired the stock transformer to run on 117v, so no step down transformer is necessary with this one. Thanks for checking out my Fr-6!
