I was able to land a rare Ace Tone Fuzz Master Fm-1 pedal recently. Only being produced from 1967-69 it seems. Using the codes on the potentiometers to date it, this pedal is most likely a 1967 fuzz pedal. It is based off a Gibson Maestro FZ-1a. It has been thoroughly cleaned, and I polished up the faceplate and the aluminum on the knobs. The potentiometers and jacks were sprayed with De-Oxit. The jacks were brushed carefully to make sure no cutting in and out of the guitar signal. I replaced two way out of spec electrolytic capacitors with some polypropylene film caps to make sure it sounds great. This one came in with some bad battery corrosion on the bottom plate. I cleaned up the corrosion and painted the bottom half of the pedal with primer and gold paint. This was to try and mimic the original look of the cadmium plated steel. I also found a new battery holder that looks vintage. I used aluminum rivets to mount it just like the original holder. This old pedal has a new lease on life and sounds nasty!
